Install the escape in the oval central hole of your hive inner cover (crownboard), then place the inner cover between honey supers and brood boxes. Its built-in flexible spring valve creates a one-way passage: worker bees can travel down from honey supers to the brood chamber, but cannot climb back up into the supers. Within 24–48 hours, honey supers will be largely cleared of bees for smooth, low-stress honey extraction.
